Quick Summary
When ordering a poultry farm Polypropylene (PP) manure belt, the most common question is whether to get the 1.0mm or 1.2mm thickness. For most standard poultry farms, the 1.0mm belt is the cost-effective, proven poultry industry standard.
You should only upgrade to the more expensive 1.2mm "heavy-duty" manure removal belt for specific, high-stress applications. These include:
![]()
1.0mm manure belt(Standard): The most common, cost-effective, and reliable choice for 90% of layer and broiler cage systems.
1.2mm manure belt(Heavy-Duty): A 20% increase in material, cost, and strength. This is an "investment" for high-stress applications.
The Decision: It's a trade-off between cost and long-term durability. Using 1.2mm on a short, light-duty row is a waste of money. Using 1.0mm on an extra-long, heavy-duty row is a risk.
A 0.2mm difference doesn't sound like much, but it represents a 20% increase in material. This 20% more material provides:
Higher Tensile Strength: The 1.2mm manure belt is stronger and more resistant to stretching over time. This is its single biggest advantage.
Better Impact Resistance: It's tougher and more resistant to tearing or punctures.
Increased Rigidity: The manure conveyor belt is slightly stiffer.

This is the default, go-to option for good reason. It provides the perfect balance of strength, flexibility, and cost.
Choose 1.0mm manure removal belt if:
You are installing new H-type layer or broiler cages.
Your poultry cage rows are a standard length (e.g., up to 100 meters / 330 feet).
Your poultry system is new and professionally aligned.
You are running a standard, cost-efficient operation.
For 9 out of 10 farms, the 1.0mm manure conveyor belt is the correct and most economical choice.
Don't think of 1.2mm manure conveyor belt as "better" for all uses; think of it as "specialized" for tough jobs. You are paying a 20% premium for a reason.
You MUST upgrade to 1.2mm manure removal belt if:
1.Your Poultry Cage Rows are Extra-Long (Over 100m / 330ft): On a very long belt, the cumulative weight of the manure is massive. More importantly, the tension required to pull that load is immense. The 1.2mm belt's higher tensile strength is critical to prevent stretching and failure.
2.You Have Breeder Cages: Broiler breeder manure is notoriously wetter, heavier, and stickier than layer hen manure. This extra weight and "drag" on the scrapers puts a high strain on the system. The 1.2mm manure belt is the standard choice for all breeder operations.
3.You Are Retrofitting an Old Barn: If you are putting new belts in an older barn, the frames may not be perfectly aligned. The extra toughness of the 1.2mm manure belt provides a "safety margin" and is more forgiving of minor imperfections that might otherwise cause premature wear or tearing on a 1.0mm belt.

The cost-effective standard. |
The specialized upgrade for high-stress. |
0.8mm (Light-Duty): This is a specialty manure belt, often used for quail cages or other small-animal systems where the manure load is very light.
1.5mm+ (Extreme-Duty): This is very uncommon for manure belts. It is extremely expensive and its rigidity can actually cause problems, as it may be too stiff to wrap around the drive rollers easily.
Choosing the right thickness is a simple technical decision. Don't over-spend, but don't cut corners.
Measure your poultry cage row length.
Identify your bird type (layer, broiler, or breeder).
If your poultry cage rows are under 100 meters and you have layers or broilers, buy the 1.0mm manure belt. If your rows are over 100 meters or you have breeders, invest in the 1.2mm manure belt.
